Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Readr handles information for the public website and the Readr app, including book club, personal library, messaging, notification, support, and moderation features.

Information you provide

Readr may collect information you provide when creating or using an account, including your email address, username or display name, user ID, authentication identifiers, account settings, profile information, profile photos, and support messages you send to Readr.

Profile information may be visible to other members of book clubs you join, depending on the feature and club context.

Book club membership and activity

Readr may store club membership and activity information, including clubs you create or join, invitations, member roles, club ownership or admin status, club reads, suggestions, votes, meeting details, RSVP or attendance-related activity where available, and other actions needed to operate book club features.

Messages and user-generated content

Readr may store user-generated content such as club names, club descriptions, messages, discussion notes, book suggestions, votes, meeting notes, profile content, and other content submitted through the app.

Messages and other club content may be visible to members of the relevant club. Content may also be reviewed when users report it, when safety concerns arise, or when needed to protect Readr, users, or the service.

Personal library and reading data

Readr may store personal library data, including saved books, current reads, completed books, reading progress, reading status, book notes where available, and links between books and clubs.

Book metadata such as title, author, cover image, identifiers, summaries, categories, or publication details may come from third-party book metadata providers. Metadata may be incomplete, unavailable, or change over time.

Notifications, device sessions, and tokens

If notifications are enabled, Readr may store notification preferences, device sessions, Apple Push Notification service tokens, Firebase Cloud Messaging tokens, and related delivery metadata so the app can send club, meeting, message, suggestion, voting, and account notifications.

Users can control notification permissions through device settings and available Readr app settings.

Analytics, diagnostics, crash reporting, and performance

Readr may collect analytics, diagnostics, crash reporting, performance monitoring, device, session, and usage information to understand app reliability, troubleshoot issues, improve performance, protect against misuse, and make product decisions.

This may include app version, device type, operating system, crash logs, diagnostic logs, event timestamps, feature usage signals, and performance traces. Readr should not collect passwords or authentication codes through analytics events.

Support requests and moderation reports

If you contact Readr, we may store your email address, the content of your request, related account or club context you provide, and follow-up messages. Moderation and safety reports may include reported content, reporter information, reported account information, club context, and review notes.

Third-party providers

Readr may use third-party infrastructure providers to operate the app and website, including Firebase, Google Cloud, authentication, database, storage, cloud functions, hosting, notifications, analytics, diagnostics, crash reporting, performance monitoring, email, and security services.

Readr may also use third-party book metadata providers to search for, display, and enrich book records. These providers may process the requests needed to return book information.

How Readr uses information

Readr uses information to provide accounts, book club management, personal library tracking, reading progress, suggestions, voting, meetings, messages, notifications, support, safety review, moderation, diagnostics, abuse prevention, service improvement, and legal or security compliance.

Account deletion and retention

Users can delete their account in the Readr app from Settings where available. If you cannot access the app, contact Readr at the email below for help.

Account deletion may delete or de-identify account information, profile information, profile photos, notification tokens, personal library data, saved books, reading progress, and other data tied primarily to the account. Shared club content may be preserved, de-identified, or attributed in a limited way where deletion would disrupt other club members or shared club history.

Some information may be retained where reasonably needed for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, dispute resolution, backup integrity, safety review, moderation records, or abuse prevention. Retention may vary based on the type of data and the reason it is retained.
