Community Guidelines

Last updated: June 2026

Readr’s community features are built for book clubs and reading discussion. These guidelines explain what is expected when users create clubs, post messages, suggest books, and interact with other members.

Be respectful

Treat other readers with respect. Book clubs can include disagreement, criticism, and different interpretations, but discussion should stay civil and focused on books, meetings, and club participation.

No harassment

Do not harass, threaten, bully, intimidate, stalk, or target another person. Do not use club messages, profiles, invitations, or other Readr features to pressure or abuse other users.

No hate or discrimination

Do not post hateful, discriminatory, or demeaning content based on protected characteristics, identity, or personal attributes. Readr is for reading communities, not targeted abuse.

No explicit, graphic, or objectionable content

Do not share explicit, graphic, abusive, exploitative, or otherwise objectionable content in profiles, club details, messages, suggestions, notes, or other user-generated areas. Book discussions may cover mature themes when relevant to a book, but content should stay appropriate for the club context and must not be abusive.

No spam or scams

Do not spam clubs or members, post deceptive links, promote scams, automate unwanted messages, or use Readr primarily for advertising unrelated to the club’s reading activity.

No impersonation

Do not pretend to be another person, misrepresent your identity, impersonate a club member, or create misleading profiles or clubs.

No illegal content

Do not post content that is illegal, encourages illegal conduct, violates another person’s rights, or shares private information without permission.

Privacy expectations

Respect the privacy of other members. Do not share private club details, screenshots, member contact information, messages, or personal information outside the intended club context without permission.

Reporting

Users can report content or conduct that appears to violate these guidelines through the Readr app where reporting is available. Reports may apply to profiles, club messages, clubs, members, or other content surfaces.

If an in-app report option is unavailable, users can email Readr at the contact below with relevant details.

Blocking

Users can block other users where blocking is available in the Readr app. Blocking may reduce direct interaction, messaging, visibility, or invitations depending on the feature and shared club context.

Moderation actions

Readr may remove content, restrict features, limit club access, suspend accounts, or take other action when content or conduct appears to violate these guidelines, the Terms of Use, safety expectations, or applicable law.

Appeals and contact

If you believe a moderation action was made in error, contact Readr with the account email involved, the relevant club or content context, and a brief explanation. Response times may vary based on request volume, severity, and complexity.

Community and moderation contact

Use this email for reports, appeals, safety concerns, harassment, impersonation, spam, illegal content, and moderation questions.
